It’s the beginning of a new year and many of us may have regrets; things we did (or did not do) in the previous year that we are not proud of. The good news is that we have the opportunity to begin again.
In Genesis chapter 6, we read of God’s disappointment with mankind. The people He had created for fellowship and worship had become increasingly wicked and He was fed up. So, He (God) decided to destroy man and every creature He had created.
“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8).
Grace is Available to Begin Again
Because of Noah, God’s intention to destroy all mankind was altered. He would begin again with Noah.
God is willing to begin again with you. No matter how bad you were or how unforgivable your deeds in the past year may have been, He is saying:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
All He requires from you is a repentant heart. Indeed He has promised to make all things new.
And He who was seated on the throne said, behold, I make all things new (Revelation 21:5).
Your Decision will Affect Lives
Because Noah found favor with God, the lives of his wife, his sons and their wives, along with two of every living thing of all flesh were spared the destruction from the flood.
When you choose to begin again with God, you not only save yourself, but you also may save the lives of those connected to you.
So what will it be? Are you willing to love again, to try again, to pray again, to begin again?
Behold I stand at the door and knock: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him and sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20).
